E Komo Mai! Welcome to my blog.

I'm delighted that you dropped in! E Komo Mai: WELCOME! This blog is basically an online visual journal is modeled after a concept I learned of in psychology 101... waaaaaaay back in college. That concept was somewhere in the chapter on The Significance of Dreams, where it mentioned someone's theory on dreaming about a house usually means that the house represents you. So I have used my actual house (Mauna Lea Manor) to structure my blog. In different rooms you will find different aspects of my life; different interests I like to blog about. This is a way to bring a little organization into my life and thoughts for myself... (dreams are in The Bedroom, Family updates are in The Living room, etc.)
This also, I would imagine, make reading this blog more convenient for you as well. If you are a grandparent interested in seeing photos and hearing stories about my boys, but maybe not so interested in my bellydancing obsession: you can just read what goes on in The Playground. But if you are an Art Collector more interested in my latest work and information on collecting, but not especially interested in my personal life: you'd enjoy The Office. Mauna Lea Manor is sort of the foyer to all the other rooms. If you would like to tour my online portfolio, please visit: www.stephaniebolton.com.
I hope you enjoy your time here ;) & continue to stop by!

I am so excited to be working on an exciting project involving two of my passions: painting & belly dance!
Zanbaka has written a fantastic series of books entitled "Belly Dance for the Versatile Dancer". Well the fourth book in this series will feature articles written from a myriad of dancers on the topic of various styles of belly dance. I will be illustrating this book with mixed media portraits of the dancers contributing articles. Many of these dancers are the living legends of belly dance and so I am very thrilled to be able to introduce you to each of them via interviews on my blog. On my blog you will be able to read interviews, see my progress on the artwork, and eventually the finished work. I hope to be able to exhibit this collection of paintings after the artwork is finished. If you or an organization you know would like to be a part of this traveling exhibtion of belly dance artwork, please contact me atmauna.lea.studios@gmail.com
Mahalo for your time. I truly appreciate your support and interest in my work! And don't forget that I also am interested in what you are up to- so don't be a stranger. I hope you have a beautiful day!
Sincerely,

Stephanie Bolton

Belly Dance Book Project

I am very excited to announce that I will be working on illustrating a book on one of my most favorite subjects: BELLY DANCE! This will be a special book uniting the writing of many of the living legends of belly dance. I will be illustrating this book with mixed media portraits of these beautiful women. You can follow my progress on the artwork and learn a little more about the exciting lives of these amzing women here! I will taking this opportunity to get to know these ladies better by interviewing them so I can create a portrait that captures more than just a physical likeness; I would like these portraits to capture an essence of who these women are!
I will be posting these interviews on my blog to share with you!
My first interview will be with Tamalyn Dallal
I have been a big fan of Tamalyn's books- she is wonderful and intimate writer who has traveled extensively and danced along the entire journey.
I am very eager to share with you her current project in Zanzibar, where she is attempting to re-introduce the art of belly dance back into this culture.
I highly recommend her latest book "40 days and 1001 Nights" to anyone interested in Islamic culture and travel (you can purchase it on her website).
STAY TUNED!!!
