E Komo Mai! Welcome to my blog.

I'm delighted that you dropped in! E Komo Mai: WELCOME! This blog is basically an online visual journal is modeled after a concept I learned of in psychology 101... waaaaaaay back in college. That concept was somewhere in the chapter on The Significance of Dreams, where it mentioned someone's theory on dreaming about a house usually means that the house represents you. So I have used my actual house (Mauna Lea Manor) to structure my blog. In different rooms you will find different aspects of my life; different interests I like to blog about. This is a way to bring a little organization into my life and thoughts for myself... (dreams are in The Bedroom, Family updates are in The Living room, etc.)
This also, I would imagine, make reading this blog more convenient for you as well. If you are a grandparent interested in seeing photos and hearing stories about my boys, but maybe not so interested in my bellydancing obsession: you can just read what goes on in The Playground. But if you are an Art Collector more interested in my latest work and information on collecting, but not especially interested in my personal life: you'd enjoy The Office. Mauna Lea Manor is sort of the foyer to all the other rooms. If you would like to tour my online portfolio, please visit: www.stephaniebolton.com.
I hope you enjoy your time here ;) & continue to stop by!

incense: a SEED program
Incense: a S.E.E.D. programNovember 2011
Last Month
we made our belts
We have completed our first month of Incense!
It has been a real pleasure getting to know your daughters and seeing them advance so quickly in their dancing.
The girls have learned 6 fast movements, 2 slow, and 2 speciality moves requiring specific finger cymbal rhythms.
They also learned how to use a sewing machine and sewed their dance belts with the help of master seamstress Rose Bolton.

They have learned how to make yarn tassels from scratch and embroider mirrors.  They will create and wear a tassel for each fast move learned and embroider a mirror for each slow or specialty move learned.  These adornments are visual badges marking their achievements, making their dance belts something they can be very proud to wear.

This Month

Girls received their finger cymbals and are now required to bring these instruments to dance with at every class.
Some girls participated in the Kona Coffee Festival Parade on 11.11.11.
Our float was supplied by The Kona Coffee & Tea Company.  Some of my adult students in the Nouveau Gypsy danced to live music played by local band Leche de Tigre.  We won 3rd place in 2 different categories!
This month the girls will be be receiving a special visit from an exceptional make-up artist named Mindi Bachand.  She will giving a demo and showing us her extraordinary portfolio.

Next Month
Next month there is another parade that we have been invited to participate in:

The Christmas Parade
Dec. 10, 5:00pm
on Alii Drive

Please mark your calendars and let me know if your child will be able to attend.

We are also moving into the Health and Nutrition segment of our program.  Female Sexuality will be discussed and if you do not want your daughter to participate in this discussion, please notify me.

We will be visited by a nutritionist, Shannon Broderson.  We will also have visits from the Pregnancy center & Planned Parenthood.
